Four healthcare professionals from the Parkinson's Foundation Global Care Network pose together

A central priority of the Parkinson’s Foundation is to ensure that all people with Parkinson's disease (PD) can obtain the care they need to improve their health and quality of life. Currently, care for people with PD is varied and comprehensive care is not easily accessible.

The Parkinson’s Foundation Global Care Network creates more opportunities for people with PD to access high-quality care while also providing health professionals the chance to advance and share their knowledge.

The Global Care Network broadens the Foundation’s footprint of care settings – closing the gap between those diagnosed with PD and those receiving comprehensive care, information and support. Our aim is to ensure that all people with PD have access to equitable and quality care —getting what they need, where and when they need it. This is essential to ensuring that all people with PD can live their best lives.

Centers of Excellence

The Foundation has designated 54 medical centers around the world as Centers of Excellence, including 40 in the U.S. A Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence is a medical center with a specialized team of neurologists, movement disorder specialists, physical and occupational therapists, mental health professionals and others who are up to date on the latest PD medications, therapies and research to provide the best care. Each Center is required to meet rigorous care, clinical research, professional training, community education and outreach criteria.

Comprehensive Care Centers

The newly established Parkinson's Foundation Comprehensive Care Center designation recognizes medical facilities with specialized, multi-disciplinary teams providing evidence-based PD care and are charged to meet the same criteria as Centers of Excellence, but participation in clinical research is not a requirement. Each center is required to meet rigorous care, professional training, community education and outreach criteria. Every Comprehensive Care Center must reapply for designation after five years to ensure requisite standards of care.

Parkinson’s Network of Excellence

A Network of Excellence is comprised of multiple, independent medical sites that together provide high-quality, patient-centered and multi-disciplinary care to people with PD within a specific country or region. A Network demonstrates exemplary care, innovative research, a commitment to medical professional training and educating the community of people with and affected by PD.
