Senior Director, Data Strategy

The Parkinson’s Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Data Strategy to join our team. The position will help lead and manage the strategic oversight of constituent information to maximize program participant experience and engagement in support of mission engagement and annual fundraising goals. 

The Senior Director of Data Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping the Foundation’s data strategy and optimizing constituent engagement and fundraising efforts through innovative use of technology and data analytics. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement Operations you will mentor a dedicated and cross-functional team, drive initiatives to establish and maintain data quality standards, enhance online user experience, and streamline data processes to support our organization's growth and mission. This role will be instrumental in guiding our data team, collaborating with internal stakeholders, evaluating technology solutions, and ensuring compliance with data governance policies. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish a data roadmap: Implement data quality standards, policies, best practices, documentation, and strategy for digital performance analytics and related data initiatives aligned with the organization’s overall business goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the constituent experience: Optimize fundraising and engagement efforts through current technology, while identifying and addressing technology gaps to further improve fundraising outcomes.
  • Evaluate the Foundation’s current software systems: Optimize utilization and ensure alignment with industry standards, including automation, configuration, change management, and infrastructure provisioning, to support projected growth.
  • Mentor, inspire, and provide technical and strategic guidance to the Foundation’s team members: Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality data solutions. Analyze current data team responsibilities to identify areas for potential optimization and determine staffing needs to maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with key internal business and technology stakeholders: Understand functional and reporting needs, prioritize projects, provide budget recommendations, and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Foster a shared understanding of technical and data engineering initiatives and their impact on the business.
  • Maximize the Foundation’s use of the data warehouse: Identify data report needs across the organization and streamline processes to efficiently analyze, report, and deliver timely and actionable insights. Proactively address data issues and implement improvements to ensure the reliability and efficiency of data processes.
  • Ensure uniformity across all systems in data collection: Maintain consistency in the appearance of webpages, donation forms, and registration pages, enhancing the overall user experience and data quality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop email hygiene protocols: Enhance deliverability and maintain data health security between the organization’s primary business and digital engagement tools.
  • Assess third-party vendors for project ROI and suitability: Leverage in-house expertise to extend skills and capacity. Create, monitor, and respond to project budgets and timelines.
  • Lead a data governance working group: Spearhead efforts to address new challenges and integrations, ensuring compliance with data policies and regulations. Regularly transmit updates and pertinent information to the team to promote awareness and alignment with data governance initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage project timelines and deliverables: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently and stay on schedule. Implement project management practices to monitor progress, address potential roadblocks, and ensure alignment with the organization’s objectives. Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members to drive project success and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Experience/Skills Required

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Over seven years managing complex technical ecosystems, including CRMs (Raiser’s Edge, Luminate, Salesforce), fundraising tools, and email marketing systems, within nonprofit environments. Five-plus years in supervisory roles with a strong track record in delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, database, and spreadsheet management. Expert in project management and digital engagement strategies, with a deep understanding of nonprofit software and constituent management systems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, excellent presentation skills, and a professional, positive attitude. Proven experience in collaborative problem-solving and improving internal business processes.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivated and goal-driven, demonstrating values of excellence, teamwork, integrity, and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrates the organizational values of excellence, teamwork, collaboration, integrity, positivity, dedication, and responsiveness.

Compensation

Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
