Description

The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community. 

The Parkinson’s Foundation is looking for an exceptional undergraduate/graduate student to work directly with the communications team on an array of digital communications projects. The intern will work with passionate professionals, learn first-hand how to apply best practices in communications and enjoy a real opportunity to make an impact on Parkinson’s disease.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and communications audits
  • Assist with drafting web content
  • Create videos and digital assets
  • Manage web updates related to the event calendar, blog and press room
  • Social media management, including reporting and creating content 

Experience/Skills Required

  • Current college student (junior/senior) or graduate student
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable wearing many hats
  • Solves problems self-sufficiently, but takes direction well
  • Creative instinct for video production and social media content creation
  • Strong writing and online research skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Adobe, Canva and HTML are a plus
  • Detail-oriented; can be counted on to produce high-quality work
  • Comfortable working virtually
  • Interest in digital communications 

Learning Outcomes

The Digital Communications Intern can expect to gain these learning outcomes:

  • Experience in planning and executing digital communications campaigns
  • Experience in creating social media content and providing team with measurable outcomes
  • Experience in pitching ideas to a communications team
  • Experience in participating and contributing to communications department tasks within a non-profit work environment, such as metrics monitoring and assisting with digital communications activities.
  • Experience in applying classroom theory within a real-world non-profit communications team
