The Executive Director will serve as the lead for the California Chapter, with primary responsibility for strategy implementation, revenue development, and mission delivery. This role involves progressing the mission of the Parkinson’s Foundation by achieving targeted revenue and education & outreach metrics. Revenue metrics include fundraising events, corporate development, individual giving, and Ambassador/board development. Education & outreach metrics include volunteer development, community partner engagement, and new outreach opportunities.

The Executive Director is responsible for the development, management, and oversight of the $1M+ Chapter budget and the long-term strategy for incremental and sustained revenue growth above qualifying targets. This individual will cultivate partnerships and alliances to promote growth and awareness within the community and lead a high-performing team of six members to success in both reach and revenue.

As a key member of the West regional team, the Executive Director will partner with the Regional Director and other regional team members to execute regional standards and expectations. The California Chapter extends its services across California and Hawaii offering a significant opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals affected by Parkinson's.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Fundraising and Donor Management:

  • Manage a personal portfolio of donors for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation, focusing on increasing individual giving growth and collaborating with the Individual Giving team.
  • Maintain a focused standard on moves management to ensure year-round cultivation, solicitation, follow-up, and recognition of fundraising event participants, corporate partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to create and implement strategies to meet fundraising goals through Parkinson’s Foundation’s signature Peer-to-Peer fundraising initiatives, such as Moving Day and Revolution, and provide hands-on support as needed.

Strategic Leadership and Revenue Generation:

  • Drive revenue and outreach strategies for the Chapter by optimizing performance and mission delivery. Define, report, and act on meaningful KPIs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor an annual budget and long-term strategic plan for the Chapter, managing assigned revenue benchmarks.
  • Formulate and implement strategies for Chapter fundraising activities to sustain growth, optimize opportunities in core markets, and identify expansion opportunities.

Team and Volunteer Management:

  • Lead, recruit, and retain high-level volunteers and Ambassadors, including leading the Chapter board and annual board giving.
  • Lead and coach the Chapter team to achieve success in revenue, community outreach, and professional development. Provide guidance, support, and performance management to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Identify volunteer Ambassadors or board members for donor cultivation events, leveraging their personal networks.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for key stakeholders, including local community partners, corporate partners, allied health partners, and strategic partnerships.
  • Build and execute a strategy for consistent Parkinson’s Foundation presence in remote communities served by the Chapter, including regular team travel and well-planned outreach activities.
  • Actively seek opportunities to address community needs and positively impact the local community while advancing the mission, goals, and values.
  • Serve as the local representative for the Parkinson’s Foundation, acting as spokesperson when necessary.

Operational Execution:

  • Maintain accurate records of activities in the RE NXT database and ensure team compliance with organizational data procedures.
  • Stay informed about organization-wide activities and properly utilize available resources.
  • Be knowledgeable about Parkinson’s disease and the Foundation’s strategic plan and operations.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support new and/or proposed fundraising events, programs, and activities.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising or compensatory experience, preferably within a healthcare non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising experience that includes special events, corporate/foundation giving, donor cultivation and recognition, donor records, and acknowledgment.
  • Proven and significant skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and volunteer development.
  • Outgoing, energetic, organized, detail-oriented individual who can adhere to timelines and prioritize.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to understand both verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Skilled people developer with a history of managing high-performing teams of 4 or more.
  • Ability to lead and close high-level solicitations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong volunteer recruitment, committee development, and management skills.
  • Experience securing corporate partnerships.
  • Self-starter, collaborative, quick learner, and effective team player.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to external constituents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge NXT is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Chapter and region up to 30% of the time, with reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Compensation

Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
