The Parkinson’s Foundation South Palm Beach County Chapter seeks to:
- Provide programs that support those living with Parkinson's and their caregivers
- Educate those affected by Parkinson's about the entire spectrum of Parkinson's disease
- Serve as a bridge between people with Parkinson's and their healthcare providers, to help patients and families get the best care possible
Florida Movement Therapy Centers are our lead community partner and the provider of instructors for wellness classes. We also partner with the Local YMCA’s and JCC’s as well as many local businesses who help us build and support a Parkinson Friendly Community.
Our quarterly newsletter Life Lines will give you a listing of our chapter programs and services locally.
The chapter was founded in the 1980's with the purpose to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease; to help find its cause and cure; and to provide education and support to patients, their families and caregivers. Initially, the foundation focused on raising money in support of a cure and of clinical services for people with Parkinson’s disease.
In 2016, the National Parkinson Foundation merged with the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, becoming the Parkinson’s Foundation. In 2016 the local Chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation merged with the newly branded Parkinson’s Foundation building strength for the strongest support system for our Parkinson community.
