Dr. Michael Okun is the national medical director of the National Parkinson Foundation. "A delayed response for medications to kick in and start working is a huge issue for many of our patients who call the Parkinson's Foundation helpline," he said. "The inhaled levodopa formulation could potentially help these people and we look forward to larger studies focused on people" who struggle with these off periods, Okun said.

Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in early 2012, she is certified to coach classes at Rock Steady Boxing in Glenview. The Brauns have lived in Deerfield since 1980 when they bought their first home.

The Parkinson’s Awareness Group of Clayton County is planning its first annual walk-a-thon to be held in Guttenberg on October 1st. Proceeds from the event will be distributed to NPF’s Team Hope™ and establishing a local Parkinson’s support group.
