Planning a Summer Vacation? Here Are Some Tips for Traveling with PD.

Don't let Parkinson's hold you back from the trip of
your dreams! Just plan ahead using NPF's tips for
preparing your medications in advance,
accommodations at travel terminals, and specific
guidance for air, rail, bus and ocean travel. Most
importantly, don't try to do it all — see fewer sites
and give yourself extra time for everything and you

Watch Your Step! 6/21-6/25 is National Falls Awareness Week.

Every year, up to 3.4 million people over 65 suffer a
fall. Approximately 38 % of people with PD fall each
year. Falls in PD occur mostly when turning or
changing directions and are often related to a
"freezing episode." Not all people with PD experience
freezing episodes, but those who do are at a much
higher risk of falling. Visit www.parkinson.org for
some helpful tips to minimize your risk for falls and
watch a short video on falls prevention.

Give Honor the Fathers in your life!
Honor the Fathers in Your Life!

Take time today to honor and remember the
important men in your life that have been touched
by Parkinson's disease. Father's Day is June 19th;
celebrate the men in your life by making a gift to NPF.
NPF will send a card in honor of the loved one you designate acknowledging the donation. This is a great way to show the dad in your life that you care about him and a cure for Parkinson's!
