It is estimated that 1 million people in the United States have Parkinson’s disease (PD) with about 50,000 – 60,000 new cases diagnosed nationally each year. The number of Ohioans with PD is estimated at 30,000 – 50,000.  For over 30 years, the National Parkinson Foundation Central & Southeast Ohio (formerly Central Ohio Parkinson Society) has been dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by PD in Central & Southeastern Ohio.  Our support group network throughout our region provides an opportunity for the PD community to learn more about the disease, share experiences, and support each other.  A variety of educational programs and resources are available to support groups and anyone requesting information to increase their knowledge of PD.  Free classes are offered that are designed to improve the day-to-day lives of people touched by PD.  Classes include speech therapy, Tai Chi, Alexander Technique and Delay the Disease exercise classes.
